Bloomberg

The web doesn't want for opinions, but when Bloomberg launched its View opinion hub earlier this year it sought to do more than add to the decibel level, said Executive Editor David Shipley. "Our hope is that if we can consistently offer thoughtful, realistic solutions to complex problems, if we can use Bloomberg analytics and reporting to inform our work, and if we can do all this in a fast and timely way, then we can create opinion journalism of real value to readers around the world," Shipley told RealClearWorld. Since its April launch, the View boasts a lineup of several leading commentators on world affairs and the global economy, including Jeffrey Goldberg, Jeffrey Taylor, Clive Crook, Amity Shlaes and Michael Kinsley.   Beyond its editorial page, Bloomberg reporters helped shed light on the financial and business dimensions of international relations in a way no other publication did. From revealing Western firms aiding Syria's vicious crackdown to documenting how China side-stepped Iranian sanctions, Bloomberg journalists added important context to international coverage usually dominated by state-to-state relations.
