On Monday I talked to a man whom the sensationalist press would call "a Tory insider". "The weather's changed in the last fortnight," he said. He wasn't talking about the thaw. He was talking about a sense of stress and strain having appeared in the high command of his party. As we know, for we were often told it, no one was taking victory for granted. They are apparently taking it even less for granted now.
