A report prepared by experts from the United States, Australia, the United Kingdom and Sweden has confirmed that the government of North Korea was responsible for sinking the Cheonan, a South Korean naval corvette, on March 26.
The results of the investigation are hardly surprising, as observers found it hard to imagine that anyone else could have sank the powerful 300-foot, 1,200-ton naval vessel sailing near the inter-Korean maritime border, causing the deaths of 46 crewmen on board.
Now that the panel of international experts has concluded that the vessel was sunk by a North Korean-made torpedo, the international community has been compelled to take punitive action against Pyongyang.
