Taiwan Must Rethink Defense Strategy

U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, who visited Taipei and Beijing earlier this month, said at a public hearing last Wednesday that Chinese leaders had offered to reposition at least some of their military forces opposite Taiwan, raising a question whether Washington has to do something to curtail American arms sales to Taiwan. In the meantime, the Ministry of National Defense is having a terrible time attempting to complete President Ma Ying-jeou's plan to create an all-volunteer army by 2015.
