Canadian political observers often complain that Conservatives and Liberals are too alike. Depending on which side of the political spectrum you talk to, they either both spend too much, or spend too little, use “economic development” to buy votes, or live in the pockets of corporate Canada. Differences do emerge, some rooted in philosophy (Tories support funding families, Liberals would set up daycares), others in pragmatism (Tories cut the GST, Liberals promised to reduce income tax).
