The 33 trapped Chilean miners now know they might be down there for months. These tough men have proved remarkably resilient, following the tunnel collapse at the San Jose gold and copper mine three weeks ago.
But it is terrifying to think of what lies ahead. They will still be in that awful place when our children go back to school, when we do our Christmas shopping – and quite possibly when we open those presents.
