With the economic rise of Asia comes military advancement, meaning that neighbouring countries to our north, which have never previously posed a serious threat to our national security, could in fact do so in coming years. We are unlikely to face attack from our allies to the south-east, namely New Zealand, as Minister Smith said in jest this week, but jokes aside, if any threat exists it will, of course, come from the north.
