There are still more than 1,000 known political prisoners in Burma and more continue to be sentenced. Most of those recently released simply had their sentences suspended and can be re-arrested at any time without reason. Releasing political prisoners is a nice symbolic gesture, but we can't celebrate reform until there is an abolishment of repressive laws and an extensive overhaul of the legislative system.
