Just days from the deadline for the U.N.-brokered cease-fire in Syria, the killing mission in that country is unabated and the levels of destruction are at their peak.
The situation is far from conducive to meeting the U.N.’s goals for a cessation of violence. What we instead have is the Syrian regime engaging in a race against time to create a stronger strategic position for itself on the ground, with its usual lack of consideration for the human and material loss it will inflict as a result.
