The Good (and Bad) of Egypt's Election

Despite its cancellation of its natural-gas contract with Israel, not all the news out of Egypt is discouraging. For the first time in perhaps the entire history of the country, a group of judges made an independent decision last week. At least, that's the way it seemed to an outside observer. For an Egyptian, though, the ruling wasn't accepted at such face value: Dark, mysterious forces were at work. Americans, Jews and feloul - ex-Mubarak officials - were conspiring to suppress the will of the people yet again.
