As exemplified by the recent success of the 2nd Aman ki Asha economic conference in Lahore, ties between India and Pakistan are experiencing an upswing. Propelled by the yearning for greater commercial intercourse, acrimony and distrust have decreased. Capitalising on this positive momentum requires incremental steps that build confidence at the people-to-people and business-to-business levels. Fortunately, indications are that the desire for a new India-Pakistan dynamic, one that is based on mutual respect and draws on the shared cultural heritage of the two peoples, is strong. Both New Delhi and Islamabad would do well to nurture this sentiment.
