Propelled by the yearning for greater commercial intercourse, acrimony and distrust have decreased. Capitalising on this positive momentum requires incremental steps that build confidence at the people-to-people and business-to-business levels. Fortunately, indications are that the desire for a new India-Pakistan dynamic, one that is based on mutual respect and draws on the shared cultural heritage of the two peoples, is strong.
