The Netherlands always smiles upon cyclists. From the smallest farm roads and canals to some of the bigger highways, bikes here are always given priority. Many of the roads are even matched by a paved, comfortable bicycle path. Come summer time, the clouds part, the days lengthen and even the smallest village is an opportunity to linger for hours, drink in hand, watching boats cruise through the locks.
