Spanish Bailout Only Muddies Euro Waters

Proud, stiff-backed, serious, romantic, melancholic, too-often looking backward at long ago imperial glories. These might be, very roughly, a fair summary of many people's impressions of Spaniards.

Except that the news conference given this weekend by Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy, showed a quite different side of the Spanish character. He staged a role-model performance in the art of artful dodging.
