The parallels with Shakespeare are irresistible. A playboy prince called Harry stains his and his family’s reputation with “riot and dishonour”. Until this weekend, our own prince appeared to have followed the Bard’s in maturing from tearaway Hal into confident Henry: a dedicated warrior in Afghanistan, a charismatic joker when meeting the public, and a reliable statesman when standing in for his grandmother at the Olympic closing ceremony.
