A big problem for the economy is that both domestic and foreign investments have slowed sharply from peak levels. It's imperative to attract capital inflow to the infrastructure sector, where projects are routinely bogged down by poor access to inputs like land, and time and cost overruns. All of this has contributed to pushing down infrastructure investments by almost half, with core areas like power, telecom and roads the worst hit. Unless addressed urgently, problems related to land acquisition, tardy clearance processes and regulatory inconsistencies will worsen the scenario.
