Obama Is the Candidate of Vengeance

Many folks watching last night’s debate noticed something odd about Mitt Romney. He abandoned his tough-guy rhetoric and positioned himself as the candidate of peace. “We can't kill our way out of this mess,” he said. Instead, he promised to “help the world of Islam … reject this radical violent extremism.”

There’s a flip side to that irony. Barack Obama, the liberal law professor, has become the lord of drones, raids, ousters, and assassinations. He hates troop deployments but loves to purge, punish, and liquidate. He’s not the candidate of war. He’s the candidate of vengeance.
