The Eurocrat Salary Hike

From January, all Eurocrats will be subject to a functional 5.5 per cent pay rise. But this is, of course, entirely our own fault. Yesterday the European Commission confirmed that the institutions haven’t managed the basic function of getting themselves organised in order to agree on the continuation of the “Special Levy”, an additional 5.5 per cent tax on Eurocrat incomes which has been in place since 2004. Consequently, the Levy falls and employees of the institutions across the union are to in effect see a 5.5 per cent increase in their already extortionate salaries.
