Guangdong Province: China's Instigator

China's southern province of Guangdong is yet again affirming its established role as the country's hotbed of rebellion and revolution. This year kicked off with journalists and other staff at the always pushy Southern Weekend magazine going out on strike in protest at censors removing their editorial greeting 2013 with hope of "the dream of constitutionalism." Netizens rushed to support this unprecedented media strike against authorities who in recent years have shown an increasing commitment to censorship and determination to ensure only approved views of China and Chinese history are published both at home and abroad.
