The Country That Scandal Forgot

One disadvantage of good countries, I suppose, is that even bad things work in them reasonably well. In Canada, for instance, a regulated society works better than it deserves to work. As a result, a lot of bad things are adopted in good countries. In bad countries, even good things fail miserably. Freedom didn’t do as much for Russia and some of its neighbors as it might have done for better countries, and it’s being reduced or discontinued.
