A U.S.-Iran Detente Could Be a Game Changer

The almost accidental US-Russian deal on Syria’s chemical weapons – made possible because the Assad regime gassed its own people in the full view of the world – remains wholly untested. Washington and Moscow are divided on what will happen if Bashar al-Assad does not give up all his gas arsenal, even as he daily sets terms to comply with an order no one has credibly given.
