Despite the Arab Spring and the uprising that deposed the Mubarak dictatorship, Egypt is ranked as “not free” in the new Freedom House report on press freedom. Countries in the same category include North Korea, Cuba, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea and Iran. The classification illustrates the extent to which the ideals of Tahrir Square have been dishonoured by military strongman Field Marshal Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and his generals.
