In six days from now, on May 16, the people of India will have chosen their new government — even if it is a patchwork of political parties to drive the country forwards, or backwards — for the next five years. The deafening decibels of self-aggrandising electoral battles will be replaced by wily politicalspeak as the challenge of actualising the election manifesto becomes unavoidable. And this is where an old nemesis — India’s endemic corruption — will rear its head once again.
