Egypt's Latest Military Strongman

There was never any suspense about who would win Egypt’s presidential election last week. Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, until recently the military chief and controlling force behind the government, always had the upper hand — the army’s loyalty, the subservient media and the lack of real competition after he jailed or intimidated all serious opposition. He got more than 95 percent of the vote.
