Nonviolence Worked for Mandela -- Why Not Gaza?

Leaving aside the particularities of this latest Gaza war, a different question arises when observing the situation from Eastern Europe, where I have spent the past few weeks: Why are Palestinians still, in 2014, choosing the path of violent force when other more secure paths to independence and autonomy have proved more successful?
