Nigel Farage, the bombastic front man for Britain's immigration-bashing U.K. Independence Party, repeatedly said that if he failed to secure a spot in Parliament in last week's general election, it would be “curtains” for him. And so it was that he resigned Friday as UKIP leader, after losing a contested seat in South Thanet to a candidate from the Conservative Party.
