The country will vote to leave the EU only if it feels comfortable with the case for doing so, the reasoning advanced by campaigners and the route-map to departure. Farage is not, shall we say, a soothing presence. On balance, he is more likely to contaminate the Out campaign as the uncontrollable relative who makes a sizeable tranche of voters feel distinctly uneasy.
