Manipur in Northeast India is the most conflict-affected state in the region today. Insurgency in the state witnessed a giant leap forward on June 4, 2015 when the United Liberation Front of Western Southeast Asia (UNLFWSEA), a newly set up and broader militant formation led by SS Khaplang based in Myanmar which includes seven Manipuri militant groups, carried out an attack on an army convoy in the Chandel district of the state killing at least 18 army personnel.
