Mr Cameron will be encouraged by a shift in public attitudes from war-weariness to greater interventionism. In a poll last weekend, 52% were in favour of Britain playing a greater military role in Syria to bring the war to an end against 22% who were opposed. The murder 11 weeks ago of 30 British tourists in Tunisia has hardened opinion. So too, it appears, has Europe’s migrant crisis.
