Now that the entire Western world is embroiled in a debate about what we should do for the refugees, it’s time to look toward the next question: What should the refugees do for us? Giving asylum to hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees is one thing. But the success or failure of this endeavour will depend very much on what the refugees do, and what they’re able to do, after they’ve settled.
