Has Putin Met His Match in Russian Truck Drivers?

The Kremlin’s media is doing its best to downplay the nationwide strike (or keep it under wraps), except to publish rare “good news,” such as Kuban drivers opting out. The hamstrung Kremlin media cannot use its usual “foreign enemies and CIA agents” story line as applied to its own working class. Most of the world’s media has yet to take notice of the most serious threat to the Putin regime since the mass demonstrations of late 2011. The truckers’ protest has even made the Russian Duma act something like a real parliament. Except for the ruling United Russia party, all the other parties–the communists, Just Russia and the Liberal Democratic Party–support the truckers and plan a countrywide demonstrations on December 5. What has happened to Putin’s rubber-stamp legislature?
