For Americans, the war in Afghanistan is all but over. Most U.S. troops went home at the end of 2014, and the remaining 9,800 have their mission tightly curtailed. No longer are they fighting the Taliban, per President Obama; they are fighting Al Qaeda, and only advising the Afghans in their domestic dispute.
