What Obama Really Should Say in Hiroshima

Anyone who has visited Hiroshima cannot but come away with feelings of horror for the destructiveness of nuclear weapons. Seeing children’s tricycles twisted into pretzels or standing in front of the shadow of a human being vaporized while sitting on concrete steps is a searing personal experience. But unlike Obama’s unchanged belief that the global community can transcend human nature and and negotiate its way to a progressively peaceful world, Hiroshima actually reminds us of the ever present threats against civilized society and the need to defend the imperfect global order established after World War II.
