Slovenia

State-to-state ties between the U.S. and Slovenia have been strong during the Obama administration, with little in the way of public controversy during the survey period to explain dropping support. Indeed, the country recently amended its constitution to allow it to accept detainees from the Guantanamo Bay detention facility. (According to documents released by WikiLeaks, Slovenia was offered a meeting with President Obama in exchange for accepting detainees. Slovenia's prime minister denied such a quid pro quo.) But despite the sharp year-over-year drop, Slovenian's approval of U.S. leadership remains higher than the 22 percent approval measured prior to 2009.
