Syria's Heart-Eating Rebel
It wasn't the kind of PR Syria's rebels were looking for. A visual reminder of just how gruesome and sectarian the two-year-long civil war in the country has/had become, the video from earlier this year of Syrian rebel commander Abu Sakkar carving out and subsequently biting into what appears to be the heart of a fighter loyal to President Bashar al-Assad became a rather macabre viral hit around the web. "We have to terrify the enemy, humiliate them, just as they do to us," Sakkar recently told the BBC. "Now, they won't dare be wherever Abu Sakkar is."
