On January 14, 2011 Tunisian President Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali fled his country amidst mounting protests against his two decade authoritarian rule. The country's prime minister, Mohamed Ghannouchi, pictured above, center, assumed power and called on the "sons and daughters of Tunisia to show the spirit of patriotism and unity in order to enable our country, which is dear to all of us, to overcome this difficult phase and restore its security and stability.
