Spain files warrants for US troops over Iraq death
The Associated PressA Madrid judge has reissued arrest warrants for three U.S. servicemen over the 2003 killing of a Spanish journalist by American tank fire.
Judge Santiago Pedraz says he issued the warrants Thursday in response to a recent order from the Spanish Supreme Court to reopen the case. It has been shelved twice by a lower court.
Cameraman Jose Couso was one of two journalists killed when members of the U.S. tank crew responded to what they said was hostile fire from a Baghdad hotel housing Western journalists during the U.S. invasion of Iraq.
The United States has said the U.S. troops acted properly.
