AFP: Fresh clashes erupted between protesters and police Wednesday in Caracas, as thousands of opponents of President Maduro held what they called the "mother of all protests" calling for the leftist leader to resign.

More on the situation in Venezuela:

RT: The “mother of all marches” is under way in Venezuela’s capital, Caracas, to protest President Nicolas Maduro, as demonstrators call for his resignation amid the country’s ongoing economic crisis.

PressTV: Venezuela's defense ministry has declared the army's loyalty to President Nicolas Maduro.

The announcement came after Maduro ordered troops into the streets ahead of a major protest by opponents seeking to oust him. Venezuela is bracing for what the opposition vows the mother of all protests on Wednesday. Maduro’s supporters have called for a counter-rally on the same day. This comes after two weeks of violent demonstrations against the leftist leader and his allies whom the opposition accuses of asserting their authority. The center-right opposition has also called on the military to turn on the president amid an economic and political crisis. President Maduro has blamed a US-orchestrated economic war for the crisis.
