If P G Wodehouse's swine-loving peer had ventured up to Westminster in recent weeks, he might have felt at home. Noses in troughs, expenses-gobbling MPs have been performing a passable imitation of the Gloucester Old Spot. Now, however, the porcine metaphor has changed. The Parliamentary Labour Party, engaged in a headlong rush over the cliff face, appears to be modelling its behaviour on the Gadarene swine.
