Tony Blair Can't Reinvent Himself

I arrived at church early yesterday so I could catch Fern Britton's BBC interview with Tony Blair. Then I jumped into a cassock in the last few minutes of the programme and I was straight into celebrating the Eucharist.

I tell you this not because I think there's anything interesting in the way I spend my Sundays, but because there clearly is a public interest in how Mr Blair spends his. A section of Ms Britton's interview concerned itself with how Blair took his church attendance incredibly seriously, how it re-energised him in office when he was exhausted, with his former Gauleiter and evidently still very current image masseur Alastair Campbell popping up to confirm Blair's duty to his devotions.
