Do We Really Know Where Osama Is?

The spectre of Osama bin Laden continues to haunt Pakistan. When he cannot be found anywhere, it is assumed he is there.

Hillary Clinton claimed a few months ago that the al Qa’eda leadership was in Pakistan. On a visit trying to control the damage done by the initial reaction in Pakistan to the Kerry-Lugar Bill on aid (and having done rather a good job at it), she dropped the bombshell as she departed. “I find it hard to believe that nobody in your government knows where they are and couldn’t get them if they really wanted to. Maybe that’s the case; maybe they’re not gettable. I don’t know … as far as we know, they are in Pakistan.”
