Why must China either "rule the world" or "collapse"? For one, sensationalizing extremes sells books. In his review of my book,How China's Leaders Think, Gordon Chang, he of the "collapse" persuasion, defends his self-claimed turf. But with China playing an increasingly central role in world economics and politics, it is vital to know how China's leaders think, not what Chang thinks they think--or, if he likes, what China's leaders say, not what Chang says they say. If Chang would listen more patiently, he might be wrong less frequently.
