It is a long time ago that I explained to my old friend and former colleague (he was the Chancellor at that time) Ken Clarke that no currency could have more than one Chancellor of the Exchequer, or chief Finance Minister, to its name; and no Chancellor without a currency to his name was worthy of that title. He demurred a bit, so I asked hime to name a Chief Finance Minister without a currency of his own, or a currency with more than one. Alas, 15 years later I still await his reply.
