West Is Stuck in Economic Slow Lane

According to the IMF's latest World Economic Outlook (WEO), growth in world output this year is now likely to be a full percentage point higher than the same publication was predicting just six months ago.

Conditions in financial markets are also easing much more rapidly than anticipated. In advanced economies, credit conditions have at last started to improve, while the IMF has substantially lowered its forecast of actual and prospective bad debt provisions.
