China's "peaceful rise" is unlikely to remain "peaceful" for much longer.
But if the peace is to be kept, Japan will have to play a pivotal and pro-active role. In its own interest, and in the larger equation of maintaining the balance of power in Asia, Japan must take the lead in such a way that the Chinese behemoth does not "swallow" the world with its influence.
To achieve this, Japan, in collaboration with the United States, needs to train its sights on two key powers in the Asia-Pacific region: Australia and India.
