What is almost certain is that this election will be nasty, brutish, and short. The Tories have no interest in dragging it out; during a campaign, the parties are on equal footing when it comes to spending and public air time, which advantages the opposition. And based on the recent spate of attack and counter-attack ads, there is no reason to think the tone will improve. Both main parties will be going for the jugular. So get set for a wild ride.
