Earlier this week, reporter Seymour Hersh published a piece in the New Yorker basically arguing that the Obama administration has been overstating the likelihood of an Iranian nuclear weapon. He quotes a number of named and unnamed intelligence officials pushing back on the conclusion that Iran is committed to obtaining a nuclear weapon, and concludes that “The United States could be in danger of repeating a mistake similar to the one made with Saddam Hussein’s Iraq eight years ago — allowing anxieties about the policies of a tyrannical regime to distort our estimation of the state’s military capabilities and intentions.”
