Over the last six months, as Syria has edged closer to full-scale civil war, Western powers have blamed “Arab inaction” for their own lack of a robust policy to stop the daily bloodshed in the country.
Last weekend, the Arab League addressed that excuse by calling for a “peaceful transition” that would spell the end of President Bashar al-Assad’s despotic rule.
