India Needs More Cities

Can a country develop with two-thirds of its population living in villages and its urban population living in cities that are a disgrace to human existence? The answer is no to the first part of the question and perhaps yes to the second part (think of the cities of Europe during the 18 {+t} {+h} and 19 {+t} {+h} centuries). The vast majority of Indians need to live in towns and cities and, whatever the record of other parts of the world, they need to live in well-planned, clean and gracious spaces.
