Far from being a bonfire of the Blairites, round whose embers his critics can huddle, Ed Miliband’s reshuffle seems designed to immolate the last rags of a Brownite mantle. His promotion of a fresh generation of loyalists marks his final transformation (or so he must hope) from a one-time prime ministerial acolyte to an established leader commanding the fealty of his chosen disciples.
