Military issues in Turkey carry the same level of importance. In recent years, with the exception of a few isolated incidents, some very important steps have been taken in the arena of military-civilian relations. Civilians may now hold position of superiority in terms of these relations but, unfortunately, this process was not capped off with the necessary constitutional, legal or institutional changes it really called for.
